Thank You Comp SOP
Procedure#:HB SOP 18
Function:Team Member Policies
Implementation Date:110623
Policy: Hillman Beer’s mission is to provide ‘above and beyond’ hospitality for our guests. A way to show our love for our regulars and guests is to surprise them with a gift (a beer!), on the house. Hillman calls this a “Thank You” beer. This should be utilized sparingly but as a method to recognize our guests’ loyalty and special occasions. We believe that this gesture shows that we appreciate our guests and, in turn, they will continue to be regulars with us.
Procedure:
- A team member recognizes an opportunity to ‘gift’ a beer – whether it’s a regular guest, a special occasion or someone is spending a good deal of money with us.
Note: Generally, we do not offer a ‘thank you’ beer as the guests’ first beer. We would like them to settle in and buy a couple of beers, first. Additionally, we want to be aware of what they are drinking before assuming what they want.
- Beertender 1 (coach) or manager must ring the beer in BEFORE pouring the beer and should ring the beer in and immediately comp the beer to “Thank You” under the tab that the guest already has open. This helps track the “Thank You” beer and allows our guests to see where we bought them a beer.
- Beertender 1 (coach) or manager must be the one to pour the ‘thank you’ beer so a bartender must alert the Beertender 1 (coach) or manager to the opportunity.
- All “Thank You” comp checks should be separated as with any other comp check.
Note: The COO/Ownership team will determine the appropriate percentage of sales for the comp tab and the Beertender 1 (coach) or manager is responsible for staying within those limits.
