Retail Keg Purchase SOP
Procedure#: HB SOP 10
Function: Management Policies
Implementation Date: 090122
Policy/Purpose: Hillman Beer sells kegs to individuals called “retail kegs”. We need to ensure who is allowed to sell them, what the process is, what kegs are offered and importance of the refundable keg deposit.
“Wholesale kegs” are businesses that are purchasing to resell it (restaurants and bars) and are only handled by our Wholesale Rep. They will never be rung up through the POS. These accounts require specific tracking and management to ensure proper inventory control and compliance with local regulations. Additionally, our Wholesale Rep is trained in servsafe manager training essentials to guarantee that all products are handled safely and meet health standards. This ensures that our partners receive high-quality products while maintaining a focus on food safety.
Procedures:
- Find a Shift Leader or Manager to ring up the keg
- Ensure the customer is wanting one of our six beer offerings as retail.
IPA, Hazy Half-Back NE IPA, Old Fort Original Lager, Kolsch, ESB, Mommabeer Brown
- Ensure a $75 refundable deposit has been charged to the order
- If the customer has an empty keg to return, this deposit credit can be added to the order to zero out the charge
- Retail kegs can be pulled from the walk in cooler and brought to the customer for them to transport to their car
